Patrick Epino
writer-director-producer
Patrick was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and started making narrative and experimental
short films during his undergraduate years at the University of Chicago. He later received his MFA in
Cinema from San Francisco State University where he wrote and directed several shorts
including his film, SPUNK, which was distributed through Microcinema's Blackchair Collection.
In 2005, Visual Communications in conjunction with ABC Entertainment awarded him
with the Armed With a Camera Grant. Through this sponsorship he made the short film, VOID, which screened internationally
and was distributed by Cinequest, Inc. The following year, he took part in Film Independent's Project: Involve, a fellowship and mentorship program for emerging filmmakers.
Patrick was selected by the film magazine, The Independent, as one of its “10 Filmmakers to Watch in 2009”.
Cindy Fang
producer
A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Cindy graduated from UC San Diego with a BA in Interactive Media, and later earned her MFA in Film Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts. Through a grant from Visual Communications and ABC Entertainment, Cindy directed a short mockumentary entitled, HOW TO BE A HONG KONG SUPERSTAR, which played on television and enjoyed a successful festival run. Her original feature-length screenplay about the Japanese American internment of WWII called, A CROSSROAD CALLED MANZANAR, co-written with Alice Kim, has garnered many accolades and was invited to participate in the 2007 IFP Film Market. She is currently a Film Independent Project: Involve Fellow.
Rain Breaw
producer
Rain is an independent producer-director and recent graduate of the USC School of Cinematic Arts, where she was awarded the Edward Small Directing Scholarship, the Mary Pickford Production Scholarship and the North American Theater Owners Association Production Award. She has produced numerous award-winning short films, including THERMOPYLAE and ARCHER HOUSE. Rain has also directed two award-winning shorts, SECRET AGENT and UNDERPASS, which received a Caucus for Television Writers, Directors and Producers student filmmaker award and the Samuel & Lorenza Gary award. In addition to working on MR. SADMAN, Rain is currently prepping her feature film directing debut, BEARING IT ALL.
Christopher Chomyn
director of photography
Originally from New York, Chris moved to California in 1985. His feature film cinematography credits include
AMERICAN PRIMITIVE, SEA OF DREAMS, LOCKDOWN, PICTURE BRIDE,
PHANTASM III & IV and TAXI DANCER. His diverse body of work also includes television programs, commercials,
music videos, documentaries and interactive projects.
Chris earned his MFA in Film Production from The UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. He has led cinematography workshops and
seminars for Walt Disney Feature Animation, Eastman Kodak, the International Cinematographer's Guild, UCLA Extension, Loyola Marymount
University, Film Independent, the International Film and Video Workshops in Rockport, Maine and the Center for Educational Exchange with
Vietnam through the Ford Foundation. Chris currently holds a faculty appointment as Senior Lecturer at the USC School of Cinematic Arts
where he has been teaching cinematography and visual communication since 1997.
Luke Pebler
editor
Luke grew up in Wisconsin and studied Computer Science in the coldest, darkest corners of the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
He moved to California in search of sun and stimulating conversation, both of which he found at the USC School of Cinematic Arts.
Ultimately, he was unsuccessful in escaping his true nature. Luke specialized in editing and post-production and
still haunts dark, computer-filled rooms.
Luke's short film THE PROFESSOR'S DAUGHTER won top honors at the 2007 Boston Sci-Fi and Wisconsin film festivals.
He is currently working as a freelance editor in Los Angeles, and his credits include the Chinese-language
feature film IF YOU COULD HAVE and the CBS webisode series GHOST WHISPERER: THE OTHER SIDE.
Laura Corrin
casting director
Laura was born and raised in Buffalo, NY and received her BA from SUNY Buffalo. While a student, she worked as a casting assistant on Vincent Gallo's BUFFALO '66. Laura then lived in New York City for five years working in voiceover casting for commercials and television. Since moving to Los Angeles, she has worked as a casting associate and casting director on such films as Wim Wenders' DON'T COME KNOCKING and MY SUICIDE.
Michele Yu
production designer
Michele is a Los Angeles-based production designer and art director. With a
background in fine arts, photography and illustration, her freelance designs and
photographs have appeared in Blender, Skratch and Sci Fi Magazine. She was
the production designer for LA ROSA Y EL GATO which was featured
in the Palm Springs International Shorts Festival.
In 2005 she worked with two directors from the Visual Communications Armed with a Camera program,
contributing production design on Cindy Fang's HOW TO BE A HONG KONG SUPERSTAR and
William Lu's SPY MOMS. Both shorts premiered at the 2005 VC Film Festival in Los
Angeles and went on to screen at several international film festivals.
Cendra Martel
costume designer
Cendra is an award winning fashion designer with more than 20 years of experience in all aspects of design, process and garment construction. Originally from Montreal, Cendra has worked extensively all over the world in film, television and commercial production as a costume designer. She also has her own design studio in Los Angeles, featuring exclusive upscale fashions for men and women.
Austin Wintory
composer
Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Austin began studying
piano and improvisation around age 10. He attended NYU and USC for his undergraduate degree, which included
participation in USC's famed film scoring graduate program, and he now
works full-time as a composer from his studio in Burbank.
Austin's music can be heard in over 130
productions, including various independent films, video games and television. In early 2007, Sony released FLOW
worldwide on Playstation 3, featuring Austin's acclaimed music and
sound design. The following September Austin received a British
Academy Award nomination for the work. His final feature of 2007 was
CAPTAIN ABU RAED, recorded with the Hollywood Studio Symphony and
featuring world-renowned vocalist Lisbeth Scott. CAPTAIN ABU RAED premiered
at the 2007 Dubai International Film Festival and had its North American premiere at
Sundance in 2008.
