Production Notes
The Look
We wanted Mr. Sadman to have the look and feel of an early 90s American independent film. In the most basic sense, this meant shooting on sticks and staying away from the frenetic handheld camerawork that became popular with the advent of mini-DV cameras at the tail-end of that decade. The intention was for the production design and costumes to suggest the era and for the restrained, naturalistic cinematography to balance out the story. We want to subtly evoke 1990 not only with what you see in the frame but also with how you see it.
The Score
Again we were going for that weird space in between 80s synth and glam rock and the early 90s break out of both grunge and hip hop. Austin Wintory sprinkled in a nice mix of keyboards and drum machines throughout.
Casting
This film wouldn't have been possible without our Casting Director, Laura Corrin.
